About the artist
John Wong is a retired GP with a deep passion for watercolour. He began his artistic journey in September 1995 at Charlotte Pass during a year when the slopes held more rock than snow, making it impossible to ski. Fate had other plans as an art teacher at the lodge introduced John to watercolour, sparking a lifelong love for the medium. Faded over time, his first painting, Ski Lodge, remains a treasured marker of the first step.
Fifteen years ago, John took his passion further, enrolling in formal watercolour lessons and numerous workshops. His dedication led him to study at the UNSW College of Fine Arts for two years until his journey was disrupted by the upheaval of COVID-19. Currently, he teaches watercolour to beginners and intermediate students at his local library.
